    I’ll get the Carling!
Firstly Mart (The real one) looks well scary in a Foxx costume and secondly, lol at the word t-shirt 😉

Happy Anniversary, and yes! Your readers are awesome ^^

I’ve got the noise makers, and the fudge! Can’t have a party without Fudge!

um…how come Mart’s glasses are STILL askew (askance??) even when wearing a Foxx Mask? I am most disturbed. And also congats… 2 weeks’ hard work distilled into a mere two years! Also my browser rejects cookies so I guess I am not invited. Just think 2 years ago you were a peniless starving artist and now today…. err…. well at least you have cake, right?
PS where’s the cheese cubes and pineapple chunks on a stick? I have single-handedly introduced them to the USA and a patent is pending, and as for my shrivelled-up little sausage…

oops sorry but I just noticed you STOLE the “2 Today” font from “The Goodies”, didn’t you?
    goody goody yum yum

I decided to forego the pineapple chunks in favor of pickled onions, pineapple and cheese look the same when applied to the cartoon world 🙂

Congrats! Cheers to more years, and what have you!

@warbirdali Pineapple and cheese cubes, you say? They’ve not made it this far west yet, it would seem. Or maybe I just never go to parties.

@warbirdali – reject cookies? get rid of the failbrowser. all my browsers accept biscuits.

My face accepts all bisuits. Is my face a browser?

  12. Posted December 8, 2009 at 12:29 am | Permalink | Reply

And yes, that font is called “Goodies” 🙂

wow is it REALLY called “Goodies” pretty god in my old age at spotting obscure fonts! Since your face accepts most foods I wouldn’t call it a browser, more like a Trawler. Guess it could be FireFoxx though that sounds vaguely familiar. Also does the strip b/day coincide with Foxxs? Also also to Icallshogun I try my best to introduce the “civilized” world but don’t get invited to enough parties to spread the cheese (as they say)…stab a chunk o’cheese with a pineapple chunk on the cocktail stick and Voila! Even saw it in an Aldi sales paper the other day then again they are German. A big hit at Kids Parties ! (As was Micheal Jackson….)

I arbitrarily decided to bring AS’es anniversary a coupla weeks to be around my bidet for ease of rememberage 🙂

Maybe this is a good time to explain the name of the strip? Are we supposed to avoid Snoopy’s cousin in Arizona? Was “Spike” the name of the cactus in the first couple of strips? Is it an electrical spike? Spike Millington? A spike of humour? (which you seem to have avoided so far arf arf)What happens if you DO kick against the pricks? Inquiring minds want to know….

It’s not so deep…I was playing “Tempest” when the idea for the comic popped into my GRATE BRANE. Yes, this strip was created with the power of Atari.

greetings dogsounds, I simply enjoy your genius of humor and your furry art, makes my day every time I see a new one, But anyway, I’m just curious. Is it possible for you to have the time and resources to make a video of any of your work and if you could, will you? It would be quite interesting.

  18. Posted December 12, 2009 at 1:41 pm | Permalink | Reply

Well, thank you very much 🙂

I would love for this to be animated, but sadly I have no animation skills whatsoevr, or time. And it’s unlikely that a webcomic would get an animated series unless it is well-established…maybe one day!

Of course, then there’s the question of voice talent…I know know what Mart and I sound like in *real* life, so what would I want them to sound like on film? Interesting…

Warbirdali – Forgot I had pineapple in the fridge. That combo works pretty well with cheddar. Any other cheese recommendations?

  20. Posted December 13, 2009 at 9:11 am | Permalink | Reply

Prety much cheddar, although you could try a bit of red Leicester. Don’t forget though – for the full taste sensation, add a tiny pickled onion (ideally silverskin) to the top of the stick, make 47 of these sticks, and then display these by sticking them into a large foil-wrapped potato. Now you have made your first nibblehog, and the ’70’s are alive once again!

Next week on “Avoid Spikes’ History of Cooking History”: the do’s and dont’s of Findus Crispy Pancakes™, and why black forest gateau is the way forward. Sponsored by Panda Pops™

Maybe dogsounds, if you get the time, my advice, look around in newgrounds.com, they have animators, (and possibly voice actors) there from professionals to beginners, they make videos in there just for the heck of it, you might learn a thing or two from them if you know where to look in there.

  22. Posted December 14, 2009 at 11:57 pm | Permalink | Reply

Thanks, Mastermind. I have been there before, some good stuff to be found.

I don’t think I’ll be learning to animate any time soon though, the strip and ds.com are all really a “spare time” labor of love thing so I have, like, two days a week to draw the strip and do everything else. Making a living from this strip and site would be awesome (and therefore freeing up the rest of my week as a result), but I doubt that’s gonna happen any day real soon. Them bills mean I have to keep workin’ for da man 😦

well, I suppose all we can do now is hope that you’ll have the time to get the animation skills you need in the future to make your masterpieces, until then, good luck, and merry Christmas. (its Christmas in the U.S.A, in case you haven’t noticed) note: maybe you could try a Christmas special sometime if you want to or not, lol

icallshogun… sorry I didn’t get an update for some reason so just seen your cheese plea… as anyone will tell you (even Wallace) the best cheese in the world is CHESHIRE but unfortunately here in the US it is hard to find unless you go to a cheese shop (a la Monty Python) or whole foods etc where it is the same price as gold per pound. Since we live(d) in Cheshire it was cheap back in the day. Foxx will no doubt tell me all the Cheshire cows died of Mad Cow or global warming etc and only Cheddar Cows are left now though. It ain’t easy being Cheesy.

Yes, all the cows caught Global Warming and died.
